Mae’r Cyfeillion wedi bod yn brysur yn trefnu gweithgareddau hwyliog unwaith eto y tymor hwn. Cafwyd barti Noson Calan Gaeaf llwyddiannus gyda phlant, rhieni ac athrawon yn troi allan yn eu gwisgoedd ffansi. Diolch arbennig i’r rhieni gweithgar am addurno’r neuadd, diddanu’r plant ac yna’n aros i glirio’r cwbwl ac arbed Anti Chris! Yn anffodus bu rhaid gohurio y ‘Bingo’ ond bydd yn cael ei ail drefnu yn fuan yn y flwyddyn newydd – rhywbeth i edrych ymlaen tuag at.

Roedd yna wirioni ac hen edrych ymlaen i ddiwedd y Tymor. Diolch i’r Cyfeillion roedd tocyn i bantomeim ‘Madog’ i bob plentyn – pawb yn mwynhau ymuno yn yr hwyl. Yna parti gydag anrheg arbennig i bob un o’r plant gan yr hen Sion Corn.

Mae dosbarth Peris yn diolch yn fawr iawn i’r Cyfeillion. Diolch iddynt hwy mae yna dŷ bach twt newydd, offer dringo a blociau mawr ar gyfer y gorlan chwarae.

Bu plant dosbarth Peris ar drên Sion Corn, Llyn Padarn cyn ddiwedd y tymor. Cyfle i ofyn am rhywbeth bach arbennig yn yr hosan cyn ymadael gydag anrheg bach i ddisgwyl!

Diolch yn fawr iawn Anti Janet am ginio Nadolig bedigedig unwaith eto. Roedd pawb wedi mwynhau – yn enwedig y staff! Cyflwynodd y plant anrhegion bach i Anti Janet ac Anti Diane i ddangos eu gwerthfawrogiad o’u gofal trwy’r flwyddyn.

Braf oedd gweld plant, rhieni a staff yr ysgol yn cefnogi y Noson Garolau Gymunedol gyda cyn aelod a staff a ffrind yr ysgol Anti Hilda efo’r anrhydedd o oleuo’r goeden Nadolig.

Gyda diwedd y tymor daeth yr amser i ffarwelio â Mr. Rhodri Scott, myfyriwr o’r Brifysgol. Mae dosbarth Llydaw wedi cael hwyl yn ei gwmni - ac wedi dysgu llawer, wrth gwrs! Diolch yn fawr iawn am eich gwaith caled a phob lwc yn eich gyrfa.

Daeth pawb ynghyd i ddathlu’r Nadolig mewn gwasanaeth arbennig gan y plant yng nghapel Tabernacl ar ddiwedd tymor prysur. Diolch i bawb am eu cefnogaeth. Dymuna bawb yn yr ysgol Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i chwi oll.

Autumn Term 2010

Welcome
Welcome back to everyone at the start of the new school term, and a very warm welcome to our new pupils in the Nursery class - Keiran, Louis, Lewis, Sonny, Jac and Eira. They have all settled very well.

We also welcome a number of NVQ students – Miss Evans, Miss Mared and Anti Diane. We hope you will find your time with us enjoyable and beneficial. Mr. Gareth Jones join us regularly in Llydaw and Peris class while Mrs. Awen Bailey is on maternity leave. Our best wishes to her - we look forward to seeing the new baby soon.

Diary
The diary is busy filling up with a number of visits and activities planned. The Keep Fit Club run by Dr. Graham Thomas and Andrew Setatree has been welcomed enthusiastically by the children and the staff.

Sports Day
Due to bad weather at the end of the Summer Term, our Sports Day was held on the first Thursday of this term. Thanks to all the parents who helped on the day. We had a great afternoon in the sunshine..

Fund Raising
The fund raising activities have already started in ernest by the Friends of the School. We appreciate greatly the efforts of everyone who went to Morrisons to pack groceries recently, and raised a significant sum for the school fund. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Rydym wedi cael cyfnod prysur o weithgareddau yn ddiweddar.

Cafodd ddosbarth Peris ymweliad gan rhywun arbennig un bore Llun, sef Cas Meurig, mam Ceinwen a Wil. Daeth draw i gynnal sesiwn o ‘Chwedl a Chân’ a chafodd y plant gyfle i wrando ar y ffidl a’r crwth. Roedd pawb wedi mwynhau a rhoddodd yr ymweliad flas i ni o’r hwiangerddi a chwedlau traddodiadol. Felly yn fuan wedyn aeth y dosbarth draw i Ganolfan Cae’r Gors am brynhawn o ganu hwiangerddi yng ngwmni Mrs. Eryl Thomas.

Cafodd y dosbarth gyfle i ail ymweld â Chae’r Gors i gymryd rhan mewn gweithdy ‘Diwrnod Golchi’. Roeddynt wedi mwynhau clywed am Rwdlan yn golchi dillad mewn twb tra yn yr ysgol ond wedi cael braw gweld pa mor galed oedd y gwaith i famau yn y gorffenol!

Bu plant yr adran iau yn brysur iawn hefyd. Daeth cyfnod ymweliadau y Dr. Dewi Ellis Jones i ben gyda’r plant yn perfformio eu cyfansoddiadau un prynhawn Gwener.

Mae’r Clwb Garddio, dan ofal rhieni, wedi ei sefydlu a bellach mae pum sach o lysiau wedi eu plannu ar fuarth yr ysgol. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen i flasu cynnyrch y plant!

Aeth disgyblion bl. 5 a 6 draw i Ysgol Gymuned Benisarwaun yn ddiweddar i weld cyflwyniad gan Gwmni Fran Wên ar fwlio. Ein diolch i staff a phlant yr ysgol am eu croeso cynnes.

Cafwyd bore buddiol iawn yn nghwmni yr heddlu lleol a ‘Cadw Cymru’n Daclus’ yn casglu ysbwriel yn y pentref. Daeth nifer o ffrindiau a rhieni ynghyd gyda’r plant i ymateb i alwad y gymuned am gymorth i ymateb i’r broblem ysbwriel yng Nghwm y Glo. Casglwyd dros 30 bag o ysbwriel mewn cyfnod byr – agoriad llygaid i’r plant. Ein gobaith mawr yw bydd ein disgyblion yn llawer mwy ymwybodol a chydwybodol wrth gael gwared o ysbwriel. Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb am eu cefnogaeth i’r ymgyrch.

Cafodd ddisgyblion dosbarth Marchlyn gyfle i gystadlu yng ngŵyl gyfeiriannu y dalgylch yn ddiweddar. Roedd pawb wedi cael y profiad o fwynhau llwyddiant!

Bydd Miss Williams yn mynd a nifer o blant yr adran iau draw i’r Ganolfan Hamdden cyn ddiwedd y mis i gystadlu yng ngala nofio ysgolion Arfon. Pob lwc i chi blant!

Mae’Cyfeillion a Rhieni’ yr ysgol yn brysur baratoi ar gyfer ein Ffair Haf ar Fehefin 15fed. Maent yn awyddus am gyfraniadau a chymorth felly cysylltwch a hwy drwy’r ysgol os gwelwch yn dda.

Spring Term 2010

Diolch yn fawr i Gyfeillion a Rhieni yr Ysgol am drefnu noson i ddathlu Dydd Gŵyl Dewi yng nghwmni Cas Meurig, Pigyn Clust, Nial a Danny Cain a phlant yr ysgol. Wedi cyngerdd gwych yng Nghapel Tabernacl daeth pawb draw i’r ysgol am baned, teisen a sgwrs.

Roedd prysurdeb mawr yn yr ysgol wrth i ni baratoi ar gyfer eisteddfodau yr Urdd. Ein diolch i Miss Eleri Jones am hyfforddi y plant – braf oedd eu gweld yn mwynhau perfformio ar lwyfan Ysgol Brynrefail, yn Ysgol Maesincla ac yn Neuadd Prichard Jones ym Mangor. Da iawn chi, blant; rydym yn falch ohonoch!

Bu dosbarthiadau Llydaw a Marchlyn yn Amgueddfa Lechi Llanberis ar ddydd Iau, Mawrth 11eg yn cael gweithdy cerddoriaeth ‘rap’ ar newid hinsawdd. Roedd hwn yn brofiad ardderchog gyda’r ddau ddosbarth wedi llwyddo i gyfansoddi i safon uchel.

Cafwyd noson ddiddorol a llwyddiannus yng ngwmi y plant yn ddiweddar pan wahoddwyd rhieni i’r ysgol i gael cyflwyniadau a chyngor gan y plant ar ddiogelwch wrth ddefnyddio y rhyngrwyd. Roedd plant dosbarth Marchlyn wedi ymchwilio yn fanwl ac roedd eu cyflwyniadau yn hynod aeddfed a defnyddiol.

Daeth y cerddor taro enwog, y Dr. Dewi Ellis Jones i’r ysgol ar brynhawn Gwener, Mawrth 12fed er mwyn cynnal y cyntaf o’i bedwar gweithdy gyda phlant blynyddoedd pedwar, pump a chwech. Rydym yn hynod o ffodus o’i gael yma gan ei fod yn brysur iawn ledled Cymru a thu hwnt.

Bu plant dosbarth Marchlyn yng Nghanolfan Thomas Telford, Porthaethwy ar ddydd Mawrth, Mawrth 16eg yn mwynhau gweithgareddau ar bontydd a sut i’w hadeiladau.

Bu plant dosbarth Llydaw yn ymweld ag eglwysi a chapeli yn Llanberis a Chaernarfon fel rhan o’u hastudiaethau addysg grefyddol ar ddydd Mawrth, Mawrth 23ain.

Bydd disgyblion dosbarth Marchlyn yn mentro draw i Blas Menai am wythnos ddiwedd mis Mawrth er mwyn manteisio ar y cyfle i ddysgu hwylfyrddio, caiacio a hwylio. Gobeithio bydd y tywydd yn ffafriol – rydym yn edrych ymlaen i glywed eich newyddion a gweld eich lluniau!

Ein llongyfrachiadau a dymuniadau gorau i Mr. a Mrs. G. Roberts (Miss Smith) ar enedigaeth Iestyn Fôn – brawd bach a ffrind newydd i Trystan. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen i’ch gweld yn yr ysgol yn fuan.

Autumn Term 2009

By now, we have received the Urdd membership fees. Urdd and Dragon Sports activities will be arranged for the children (on Wednesday afternoons, in all likelihood) – details to follow!

The ‘Recorder Club’ will be held on Monday afternoons from November 16th on.

The Zoo Lab science workshop will visit the school on Wednesday, November 18th, with the Techniquest science workshop visiting the school on Tuesday, November 24th.

Children from Llydaw class will visit the Gwynedd Outdoor Education Centre, Rhyd Ddu on Tuesday, December 1st – details to follow!

The magician Howard Hughes will entertain the children on Friday morning, December 11th.

We hope that the children from Peris class will have a Christmas journey through woodland – details to follow!

Summer 2009

We thank Mrs Nia Oliver for her caring leadership as Headmistress In Charge during the last four terms. We will be welcoming a new headmaster, Mr Garem Jackson, in September.

We are saying goodbye to ten children from Year 6 this term and we wish them well in their new Secondary Schools. We are also saying goodbye to Mrs Jen Roberts after fifteen years as a teacher at the school, and we wish her well in her new work in September. Message from Mrs Roberts: Thank you so much for all the cards, presents and kind words. I have been very happy at Ysgol Cwm y Glo and I have many good memories of children, parents and staff which will remain with me for ever. I wish you and the school all the best for the future.

We thank Miss Jones for taking eight pupils to stay at Glanllyn, Bala for a weekend of activities. Eveyone enjoyed themselves, but all were very tired on their return!

Years 3 and 4 went to Cae'r Gors for an Open Air Course. We thank the parents who came to help on the trip - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

	The mosaic on the school's external walls is nearly finished! Thank you to Heather Lowe and the children in the Juniors for their excellent ideas and hard work. They have turned their attention now to the Reception area.

Thank you to the PTA and our hardworking parents for the bags of soil and plants. The children enjoyed planting them and are very interested in their progress.


	We thank Year 6 for holding a Book Fair. They sold over £200's worth of books and earned a ood commission for the school.

Thank you all very much for coming to support the May Summer Fair. It was good to see so many of our ex-pupils popping in too.

Thank you to Year 6 for preparing fund raising games to play - there was plenty of fun to be had!
The biggest Thank You goes to the hard working parents that arranged and prepared for the day - the staff here really appreciate all your hard work.

A big Thank You to everyone who came to school to help fold Eco'r Wyddfa, the local community newspaper. It was a great opportunity for the children to see how a newspaper is put together.

26/3/09 After the rain stopped we managed to hold various activities, which included sponsored skipping and bike riding, to raise mony for school funds. Thank you all for your support.

Three members of the School Council attended the Healthy Schools Conference at the Galeri in Caernarfon. They had great fun trying out the keep fit equipement for children.

Three children went to the Delwedd office in the Galeri to see how Ysgol Cwm y Glo's website is updated. We thank Mike Roberts and his staff for the welcome.

Congratulations to these two children for coming First in the Art and Photography competitions held by the Urdd in Eryri. Best of luck now in the National Urdd Competitions in Cardiff!

Ceri Mair Roberts from Ysgol Brynrefail spent a week on work experience with us at the end of the Spring Term. She had the opportunity to spend time in each class and she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Best of luck in the exams Ceri!

At the end of term we were sad to say goodbye to Miss Ceri Williams who had worked as a classroom assistant while Wendy Roberts (Miss Smith) was on maternity leave. We thank her very much and we wish her the best in her new position in Bangor.

Folk Dancing - Congratulations to Marchlyn Group for coming Second in the Urdd County Eisteddfod i Bangor on Saturday 14/3/09.

Congratulations also go to Glaslyn group for coming Second in the Area competition (Under 12) and to Llydaw Group who also came Second (Under 10's). There will be an opportunity to see them dance once again in the Easter Concert.

We had a great deal of fun on Red Nose Day 13/3/09. The School Council had arranged activities to raise money - dressing up, decorating biscuits, telling jokes, hunting for red noses around the school and a Draw Something Funny competition. We raised £150 for Comic Relief - excellent!

On 11/3/09 Marion Hughes came to talk to the Juniors about her visit to Kotayam in India. She had delivered letters from our pupils to a school there, and she returned with letters and small gifts from the Kotayam children. We found the photos of their school very interesting and are going to kep in touch with them.

On 10/3/09 Year 5 and 6 visited the Galeri for a Chemistry Science Show Fflach Bang! It was an interesting and fun way to learn facts.

On 26/2/09 Catrin Williams and Hugh Warren came to school to hold a Jazz / Art workshop which Years 5 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed. Visit the Album to see the photos.

Congratulations to these two boys for being chosen to be part of the Criw Celf scheme for children showing artistic talent. They will be taking part in various Saturday workshops throughout Gwynedd during this year.

Dennis Davies came from the NSPCC to give a talk about the society's work. We are collecting money for the NSPCC by doing a Sponsored Spelling event.

On Thursday, December 11, pupils in Peris class were sad when they had to say Goodbye to Miss Davenport. She had been on Teaching Practice with the class for nine weeks and the children had enjoyed being in her care. Visit the Album to see them prepare for Jac's, the blackbird's party.

Thank you to PC Neil Williams for coming to school to hold sessions with all the pupils. The Infants and Marchlyn class looked at drugs, and Llydaw class had a session on alcohol.

November 14th was Children in Need day. We had a lot of fun selling cakes and toys, wearing pyjamas and fancy dress, and playing games. We raised £200 for Children in Need - well done children, and thank you to the School Council for arranging the day. Photos in the Album.

We have collected boxes for Operation Christmas Child once again and we thank every family who contributed.

Marchlyn class visited the Museum at Bangor to see an interesting exhibition of the ties the area has had with Liverpool over the years. They then had a lively poetry workshop with Karen Owen. Visit the Album to see the children.

The children from the Reception right up to Year 6 took part in the Thanksgiving Service at Tabernacl Chapel. We thank everyone who was able to join us and who contributed towards the collection for the Air Ambulance. We also thank the Chapel officers for being so welcoming. Becky Williams and Tracy Griffith came from Ysgol Brynrefail for a week of work experience. Thank you girls – the children will miss you.

The elections for the School Council have been held and these are the new members of the Council.

We welcome Mrs Diane Roberts as our new Lunchtime Supervisor. The children already know 'Auntie Diane' as Ffion's mother and we hope she will be very happy with us here at Ysgol Cwm y Glo.

Friday, September 19th was a sad day at Ysgol Cwm y Glo when we said goodbye to Auntie Margaret. She has looked after the children every lunchtime for 28 years! Thank you for everything Auntie Margaret, and remember to call in and see us.
