We were all sad at the end of term when we had to say Goodbye to Mrs. Davies. She had been our Head for nearly four years and we thank her for her service and her friendship. We wish her well in her new position as Head of Coed Mawr and Glan Adda Schools in Bangor.

I wish to sincerely thank you for your generosity - gifts, cards and kind words. I have been extremely happy and content here at Ysgol Cwm, and I have made so many new friends amongst the children, staff, parents and people within the village. I have many special memories of my time here - most of them full of laughter! What else can I say but THANK YOU - DIOLCH.

Congratulations to this pupil from Year 5 for coming First in the Arfon Area Urdd Competition with his model of the Quarry.

We thank Ffion's grandfather, Mr. Jones for coming to Llydaw class to talk about his experiences in the Second World War.

Congratulations to these two pupils for their success in the Llanberis Mountain Film Festival Art Competition.

We say thank you and goodbye to student Lois Morgan at the end of her school placement with Llydaw class. We also thank Ceri Jones and Jamie Lewis, two Ysgol Brynrefail pupils, as they finish their work experience at the school.

Congratulations to this pupil from Year 6 for being accepted as a member of Criw Celf, an art club for children who have shown a talent in art that is run by Community Arts.

Congratulations to the Under 10 and Under 12 Folk Dancing Parties for coming first in the Arfon Area Urdd Competition.

Thank you goes to Mrs Morfudd Thomas for coming to the Urdd meeting to talk about her journey to Nepal. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing the photos and the artifacts.

The children came to school dressed up to celebrate St. David’s Day. Here they are in Assembly.

The parents had an opportunity to sample Auntie Janet’s cooking during Parents' Evening. It must have been good as more children are having school meals now.

Year 6 went on an overnight visit to Plas Tan y Bwlch, Maentwrog. They visited Harlech Castle, Maentwrog and Beddgelert. They also went walking on Snowdon and learnt a great deal from the guide, Hywyn Williams from Plas Tan y Bwlch. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Visit the Album to see the photos.

We welcome Lois Morgan, a PGCE student, to Llydaw class. We hope you will be happy with us at Cwm y Glo school, Miss Morgan.

Techniquest visited the school with a Science workshop on Forces, and Penisarwaun school visited to take part in the afternoon session. Visit the Album to see the photos.

At the end of December we were sad to say goodbye to Auntie Llinos. She had been our school secretary for over three years and we were all very fond of her. We wish her well in her new position at Llanrug Nursery School.

“As you all know, my time at Ysgol Cwm y Glo has come to an end. I have had three enjoyable years here and have made good friends amongst staff, parents and children – I will be sad to leave. Thank you very much to the parents for the Next voucher and for the beautiful flowers – it was a lovely surprise to receive them from Father Christmas at the party! I can’t wait for the sales! Best Wishes, Llinos. X”

Swimming- Congratulations to these two Year 6 pupils on their success with Caernarfon Swimming Club.

We hope you manage to see the choir singing on the big screen at Pool Street, Caernarfon on the 21/22/23 of December at 10.10am.

A big thank you goes to the children, parents, grandparents and staff who gave their time on Saturday 17/11/07 to pack bags at Morrisons and raise money for the school. Thanks also go to our hardworking Parent Teacher Association who arranged it all. £710 was raised - wonderful!

Our thanks also go to all the pupils for collecting £116 for the Children in Need appeal. Special thanks go to the School Council and Year 6 children for arranging a toy sale and cake stall.
 
 

Forty boxes were collected for Operation Christmas Child. The pupils watched the boxes begin their journey when the lorry arrived at school to collect them. Many thanks to all of you who filled a box - there will be many a smile on Christmas morning because of your kindness.

The oldest pupils visited Cae'r Gors, Rhosgadfan, the home of author Kate Roberts which has recently been renovated. There was an opportunity to learn about the author and her environment as well as spending time learning about the story writer's craft with present day author Angharad Tomos. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

As part of Wales Maths Week, organised by MathCymru, based at Techniquest's main centre in Cardiff, The Magic Mathworks Travelling Circus arrived at Ysgol Cwm y Glo on Tuesday, October 9th. We are collecting Tesco Sports Tokens this term. Thank you for sending your tokens to school.

A new school council has been elected. It's members are Christopher Hulme, Jasper Clough, Owen Burnsall, Cai Linton-Davies, Catrin Smith and Ben Williams. The council will meet every fortnight.


Four children have started in the Nursery class this term and all of them have settled in well.


 


Ian from Techniquest Llanberis came to KS2 to hold Science Workshops on bridge building. Years 5 and 6 were filmed building various bridges before we tested how strong they were.

September saw the start of the Jewish New Year and we heard a Hebrew prayer before sampling some delicious honey cake. Our thanks go to Mrs. Wilson for baking for us.
